On 14th February, St. Valentine’s Day Tashi Norbu at the Museum of Contemporary Tibetan Art, paints the city of butterflies, Emmen, on a heart shape canvas. Motivated by this town, known as the town of Butterflies, he creates an Artwork on the surface of his canvas, filled with sacred ancient scriptures, while a heart is dominating at the center, fulfilled with beautiful, colorful butterflies. These are the butterflies of Emmen, at the largest European butterfly garden of the past; the Artist suggests the stages of growth and development of a sentient being, such as butterfly, which has four stages. All sentient beings go through different stages of development throughout their lives because nothing is permanent. Change in actions and behaviors are deeply associated with the changes in the stages of life. Butterfly is such an insect, which has a complete lifecycle consisting of separate stages. Known for its lightness, the fluttering of its wings, and especially its metamorphosis from a caterpillar into something more beautiful and powerful, the butterfly of the Artist will symbolizes the soul, reincarnation, resurrection, and femininity, all four concepts in a shape of love!
